What is the Means of Production?

We hear a lot of talk about "the means of production," but what does that actually mean when you strip away all of these fancy words? It simply refers to the physical inventions, called “inputs”—machinery, factories, raw materials, and technology used to create wealth—everything needed to produce goods, but not human labor itself nor your own personal property like your clothes or your home. To understand why radical beliefs threaten our way of life, you have to look at how each one impacts us. Marxism acts as the philosophy and step-by-step instruction book, arguing that the working class must take control of the means of production through a “revolution” to stop some fake exploitation. This is why so many professors make tons of money teaching it: because it only seeks to diagnose and criticize, and according to Karl Marx, all you have to do is get the most vulnerable people to promote his work, which in turn will promote his revolution. Marxism serves as the ideological engine behind all collectivism, weaponizing real human struggle to sell an academic theory that always ends in total government control. The hypocrisy of Marxism is exposed in his own private letters, where he used slurs against Black people—proving that from day one, this collectivist ideology was never about real respect for minority communities, but about treating Black working families as disposable pawns to grab political power.

Five Socio-Economic Systems at a Glance

When you strip away the political spin, the choice facing Philadelphia comes down to five distinct systems. Capitalism is the proven standard—a merit-based free market where private property, voluntary exchange, and personal ambition drive true prosperity. Communism sits on the opposite extreme, abolishing private property entirely and placing total control under a centralized state. Socialism takes major industries out of private hands through heavy government intervention, while Democratic Socialism uses the ballot box to impose crippling taxes that drain middle-class wealth to fund endless municipal bureaucracy. Finally, Fascism permits private property on paper but forces every business owner to submit to state mandates under authoritarian control. Every single one of these systems—except free-market capitalism—strips away your personal independence and forces you to surrender your hard-earned liberty to the government.

That revolution leads directly into socialism, a midway point where the state or workers get together in groups called “collectives” and step in to physically steal, own, and operate those inputs to eliminate any private profit or ownership. Over time, socialism is designed to evolve into communism—the final stateless, classless society where all means of production are commonly owned by everyone and goods are shared purely based on need, of which only the government gets to choose those needs. Here is the problem. When everything is divided equally by a central authority, nobody succeeds, everybody gets handed crumbs, you’re told, “let them eat cake”, and you’re expected to be happy with very little. In the World Economic Forum, it was stated, “You’ll own nothing. And you’ll be happy. What you want you’ll rent, and it’ll be delivered by drone.” It doesn’t stop there; if socialism inevitably fails, fascism emerges as a reactive, totalitarian counter-movement. It allows individuals to keep nominal ownership of their businesses on paper but subjects them to strict state control and regulation to serve governmental goals.

The Dangers of Democratic Socialism

Today, you’ll hear a Democratic Socialist paint a beautiful picture that makes it easy to buy into their promises that everything is free. At face value, it looks like an effortless, compassionate solution to serious human problems. Saying that voting makes democratic socialism entirely different is like putting jimmies on Bassetts Ice Cream and pretending it’s a Walmart brand when in reality all it means you’re just voting for the socialist you want. But make no mistake about it: accepting this ideology means trading away your fundamental, God-given liberty in exchange for government promises—a contract that, once signed, can never be renegotiated. Be careful with anyone who wants to give you the world for free, because nothing from the government is ever truly free! We gotta hand it to them, though: they’re challenging a broken establishment from within, which naturally attracts people who are fed up with the status quo. But no sane person in their right mind wants any level of government constantly looking down their neck and dictating how they live. I’m telling you straight from the heart: these aren’t classical liberals or even sensible progressives looking to fix local problems. They’re radicals with an agenda that’ll eventually come directly for your jobs, your safety, your free speech, and the crumbling city you’re seeing right now is just their starting line. The idea that none of this has been tried before is total bullshit.

Protecting Mom and Pop Shops

We simply can’t endure any of these collectivist systems in Philadelphia, and we can’t tolerate a corrupt structure that rewards waste, fraud, and abuse while punishing hardworking people who play by the rules. That’s why my resolve for this city is as genuine as my accent and as simple as the ingredients of a Philly pretzel. We gotta protect working families from economic ruin and introduce administrative sanity. We’ll audit every single municipal agency to wipe out organizational failures while simplifying local structure. Finally, we must limit new public debt and restructure retirement obligations to keep fixed overhead from draining the city's general operating fund. If we don’t reject big city government right now, become self-reliant, and stop throwing your hard-earned tax dollars at problems with no end in sight, the outcome is guaranteed: complete devastation. Taxes will go up in amounts you’ve never seen before, crime will rise faster than a hoagie roll baking at Amoroso's, those who advocate for socialism will turn your small businesses into collectives, and the communists will push out the wealthy in this city, leaving all of us poorer. Whatever you call these radical ideas, they all do the same thing: they wipe out personal freedom, your ability to own anything, and make every single citizen completely surrender to the total power of a collective, government, or dictator.

Rejecting Collective Ownership and Overreaching Power

When you think about the foundation of all four of these—Marxism designing, Socialism owning, Communism sharing, and Fascism controlling the means of production—you realize they all rely on the exact same dangerous assumption: that central planners know how to run your life better than you do. Are you sure you want this? By replacing personal initiative and your private goals with heavy-handed state regulation or collective ownership, these ideologies destroy individual incentive, inflate bureaucratic bloat, and penalize hard-earned success. When the government controls the tools of wealth, true personal freedom becomes an illusion, leaving citizens completely dependent on a bloated government culture that’ll pop as fast as filling up a water balloon from a “spikket” in front of a rowhome in South Philly. Whether it's the far-left push for collectivist control or authoritarian power using state supremacy to dictate private undertaking, both extremes strip away your independence and force you to bow to state power. We must be against every form of collectivism, restore our local executive authority to ensure your constitutional rights are kept, and protect you as an individual, your self-reliance, and the economic freedom that built our neighborhoods in the first place.

Always Breaking Promises

The policies that push Marxism, Socialism, Communism, and Fascism are slipping into Philly because career politicians sell wiz-wit promises of 'free' government services to the most desperate neighborhoods, poorest people, and the most vulnerable populations because they only want one thing: votes. It is these systems that do not require accountability and that’s why they break their promises. They do it all the time and we fall for it all the time, and this is why people don’t wanna vote. Because, once they get in, they do nothing for you. What’s been happening in Philly is that they are quietly handing total societal power over to City Hall insiders, throwing your hard-earned taxes at problems that never get solved. There are winners and losers in this world and as it stands right now, city council always win and Philadelphians always lose, but that will change. That’s how this game works and we know it and we gotta beat them at their own game to win and flip Philly back to stability. It’s why I am only promising a four-pronged anti-communism, anti-socialism, anti-crime, and anti-taxes.
